Laurie is a self-taught acrylic artist whose work is deeply rooted in the landscapes, stories, and spirit of Western Canada.

After spending most of her career in the oil and gas industry, Laurie found herself looking for a different pace of life—one that allowed her to step back, reconnect with herself, and pursue something that had always brought her joy: painting.

Rather than leaving her former world behind, Laurie found a way to stay connected to it through her art.

Her paintings capture the people, machinery, landscapes, and quiet moments of the oilfield, transforming a demanding way of life into something tangible, expressive, and deeply personal. What began as a way to paint the world she knew became a passion for preserving its character and telling its stories through colour, texture, and form.

Entirely self-taught, Laurie has developed her own distinctive approach to acrylic painting through years of exploration, observation, and simply following where the paint leads. Her work is inspired by the places she has lived and worked, the people she has encountered, and the remarkable beauty found in unexpected places.

Today, Laurie’s paintings are held in private collections across Canada and the United States, with her work reaching collectors as far away as Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Australia.

For Laurie, painting is more than creating an image. It is about capturing a feeling, preserving a moment, and finding the beauty in the stories that surround us.
